SVGI was established in 2004. It is approved by AICTE, affiliated to RGPV. The institution offers courses in Engineering, Pharmacy, Management and Diploma in Engineering.
The goal of the Department of Humanities and Sciences is to install critical thinking, the ability to transform information into knowledge, and the power to analyse things technically in every student. We always aim to educate and develop the knowledge and skills of students to create a solid foundation for the next generation of Engineers. The department is supported by highly qualified, talented and committed faculty members.
Vision
To transfer the fundamental and thorough understanding of Applied Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Engineering courses and investigate students' abilities in the technical education field.
Mission
M1. Establish a Strong Foundation: Focus on building a solid understanding of basic scientific principles and concepts that form the foundation of engineering. This includes subjects like physics, chemistry, Mathematics, and Communication Skills
M2. Foster Critical Thinking: Develop critical thinking skills through the exploration and analysis of humanities subject’s .This will help broaden your perspective and enhance problem-solving abilities.
M3. Enhance Communication and soft Skills: Communication skills are vital in engineering to convey ideas, collaborate with peers, and present technical information to a diverse audience.
M4. Cultivate Ethical Awareness: Foster an understanding of ethical considerations and moral responsibilities associated with engineering professions. Humanities subjects offer insights into ethical dilemmas, enabling you to make informed decisions and approach engineering challenges ethically.
M5. Promote Interdisciplinary Learning: Engage in interdisciplinary learning opportunities that bridge the gap between technical and humanities subjects. This broadens your knowledge base, encourages creativity, and facilitates the development of innovative solutions to real-world problems.
Program Objectives
PO1 (a) Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO2. (b) Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO3. (c)Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO4. (d) Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
PO5. (e) Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
PO6.(f) The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
PO7.(g) Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
PO8.(h) Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.
PO9.(i) Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.
PO10.(j) Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.
PO11.(k) Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.
PO12.(l) Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of technological change.
Program Educational Objectives
PEO 1: Engineering Knowledge: Use your understanding of Physics, Mathematics, engineering fundamentals and your engineering expertise to solve engineering challenges.
PEO 2: Problem Analysis: Apply fundamental concepts from Mathematics, the natural sciences and engineering sciences to identify, construct, assess, and analyse difficult engineering problems in order to draw well-supported conclusions.
PEO 3: Investigate complicated issues: To draw reliable findings, use research-based knowledge and techniques, such as experiment design, data analysis and interpretation, and information synthesis.
PEO4: Utilizing Modern Tools: Develop, pick, and implement suitable methods, and resources.
PEO5: Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
Program Specific Outcome
PSO1: The Engineer and the Community: Utilize reasoning based on contextual knowledge to evaluate legal, cultural, societal, health and safety concerns, as well as the ensuing obligations pertinent to professional engineering activity.
PSO2: Environment and Sustainability: Show that you are aware of the need for sustainable development and that you understand how professional engineering solutions affect social and environments.
PSO3: Ethics: Adhere to professional ethics, duties, and engineering practice norms. Apply ethical concepts.
